A Trip to Cornwall

I took a trip with my family to Cornwall. Here is what we got up to whilst we were there.

An August Trip to St. Ives in Cornwall

We went to Cornwall for a week in August. We stayed in St. Ives in a two-bedroom bungalow on a campsite surrounded by woodland and fields.

My kids loved it there. They could play outside with other children whilst we sat and relaxed.

We drove to our destination from London. We left at six in the morning and stopped for breakfast along our way. Then we drove as long as we could to get there and then stopping a few times for a break. It was a long drive, especially when you have young children in the car and it can get too boring for them.

Scenic route to Cornwall

The views on the scenic roads are wonderful to look at so we stopped for ice cream and sat outside, watching the view.

On the way to Cornwall

Land's End, Penzance

The weather was cloudy and a bit miserable but we still went out every day. The main thing was, it didn't rain.

We visited Land's End in Penzance on a very windy day for August. I can remember crossing the bridge over Land's End and it being so windy that the bridge shook violently. This bridge was like a swing deck with nets on either side holding it up. I didn't like it but the kids had fun crossing over on it. They thought it was thrilling and exciting. Of course, some kids like a thrill of enjoyment when on holiday but not every child is as brave as mine.

From Penzance, Harbour boats go to the Isles of Scilly. We could have done this, but we decided not to because the weather was too windy and cold.

Penzance

Penzance is a historic town. Chapel Street is the most historic and it dates all the way back to the 1800s. If you ever go to Cornwall walk down this street.

Things to do in St. Ives

We, also, visited St. Ives Museum. There we saw interesting exhibits on wrecking. Apparently, many years ago artists would go to St. Ives to paint and now they are shown in this museum.

In the last few days, the sun came out, so we went to the beach. The beaches in Cornwall are beautiful. The only problem is not getting enough sun.

There are many people who surf at the beaches in Cornwall. It's a pleasure to watch them and my son found it interesting and wanted to take up the sport. By just watching them inspired him to want to learn.

We visited St. Ives Harbour where we sat for a while eating ice cream again.

I Recommend Cornwall to all Families

Overall, I would recommend Cornwall for a holiday for anyone. There is so much to see and do. If you enjoy history then this is the place to go to. This is an ideal holiday spot to take the family too especially if you live in England and want a cheap break away with the family.
