Our Trip to Orlando in Florida

Visiting Disney World in Orlando is a must for all families. I visited there recently but this time we went without our children because they are now grown up!

Here is what I got up to when I visited Orlando.

I have been to Orlando in Florida a few times. We went a few years ago when our children were younger. This time we decided to take a trip to Orlando with friends.

Where We Stayed

Orlando 3 bedroom apartment

We booked a 3 bedroom apartment on Airbnb which was in a complex in Orlando. It was fairly cheap for us too. It was equipped with everything we could think of including two communal pool areas. It was a luxurious place to stay for our two-week holiday.

What Can You Do in Orlando?

There are various activities, rides and 4D shows to experience whilst there for all ages, including adults. I have been here twice already with my family, and then again with my husband and friends just recently. I enjoyed every minute of it.

You can either book into a hotel or holiday Inn or better still, rent a villa with a pool. There are many places to choose from. Search on the internet for the most suitable place before setting off to book it. Search at Orlando Villas to rent your favorite holiday villa.

Alligators at Wild Florida Park

This time we did something different that we couldn't do before when we had our kids with us. We went to Wild Florida which is a park where you can experience wildlife animals like alligators and go on an airboat ride. I can say the airboat ride was a pretty unique experience where we saw alligators out in the swamp.

We also visited Coco Beach where we saw a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral and we visited Miami for one night. We drove to Miami from Orlando which took 3 hours in total. I will be writing more about this in my next article so keep a lookout for that one. We also visited St Petersburg beach in Florida. This was a lovely place with a wonderful beach area.

Disney World Orlando

The best time to go to Disney World is in January, February, March or December when the weather is cooler and the queues are much smaller. This time we went in June. The weather was very hot at 90 centigrade or more at times and sometimes queues for rides were long in the heat. Although, there is a fast pass system for some rides which means you get a time slot to come back. I went in August some years ago and it rained every single day, so don't go at this time. If you want the heat so you can enjoy your pool in your villa then go around May to June.
We had a car to get around in and it is very easy to drive in Orlando.

Magic Kingdom Disney World Orlando

There are four theme parks in Disney World. There is Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom was the first of these theme parks to open in 1971. With it's Main Street USA, it is split up into several themed areas. There are parades here at certain times of the day and characters walking around, such as Mickey Mouse, for anyone to catch their autograph or a photograph with them. Also, make time to see one of the shows that are uniquely spectacular for every family.

Epcot is another area to explore with its orb of Spaceship Earth. The future world area is a collection of family-friendly thrills like launching the simulator mission such as Space and the flying simulator. Shows can be seen here too, which shown several times a day.

Disney Hollywood Studios opened in 1989. It's the most popular ride the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is a fantastic ride that should not be missed. Shows, such as The Little Mermaid and The Beauty and The Beast can be seen here too.

The Animal Kingdom park was added in 1998 with its 500 acres of fun. There is the safari excursion that takes 20 minutes, which is fun to see the animals. Shows, such as Finding Nemo are performed here too.

If there is time, there are the other three parks that can be visited, which are not in the vicinity of Disney World. These are Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Sea World.

Universal Studios is famous for showing 3D and 4D movie shows, such as, Terminator, Shrek, Men In Black ride and apparently, the new Simpson's ride is now open. There is the Jaws ride, ET Adventure, and Twister, and now they also have Harry Potter. This is a popular place to visit and it should not be missed if you take a trip to Orlando.

Islands of Adventure is another themed park that is full of fun. It has five themed areas. Jurassic Park, Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Lost Continent and Seuss Landing. Jurassic Park has the river adventure ride, which is great in the summer season. The Spider-Man 3D adventure ride takes place in Marvel Super Hero Island. Shops selling superhero toys can be found here too.

Sea World in Orlando is full of fun too. Swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove or go and see Shamu Rocks, which is on several times a day, the killer whale show. There are, also, dolphin shows here too.

Now at Universal Studios, there is the Harry Potter world. All I can say about this place is WOW! It was by far the best we had seen so far on our visit to Orlando. It was the most fantastic thing we had seen. You really have to go there to experience it. Take the children if they Harry Potter fans!

Having Fun
There is so much to choose from when visiting Orlando. A couple to three days in each park is really needed, but if there isn't the time, then spread it out. It would be a waste to miss out on other parks. Also, visit the water parks. There are a few to choose from.

Driving to Orlando is a bonus if you live in the USA and if you are planning to visit further afield, such as the Kennedy Space Center. Of course, transport in and around Disney World is provided from every hotel to all Disney World Theme Parks.

Take a Trip to Orlando
I recommend this type of vacation because it will suit all the family and you will have lots of fun no matter what you do. If you want a long vacation such as a three-week one then it will give you more time in each park.
